Karensa and Joe

We met when Karensa was 16 & Joe was 18 on a plane over to Brazil, we spent the next 13+ hours playing cards to keep us entertained as the airline we took offered no movies/tv or music. We spent the next 3ish weeks inseparable including walking through rio in the early hours of the morning. When we returned home Karensa went back to the Gold Coast and Joe returned to Comboyne in NSW, a 7.5 hour distance. Joe then proceeded to travel to the Gold Coast for the next year to visit before he made the leap of faith.

When did you know they were it?

K: “The laughter & joy Joe brings to me”

J: “I wouldn’t say it was a specific moment but an accumulation of events and time. If we can get this far in and not want to kill each other we must have something special”

Tell us about the proposal.

I had been thinking about it for a while, got the ring probably 6 months previous to the proposal as I had to get it made. The rest of the proposal sort of just came together the weeks leading up to Karensa’s birthday. I was very calm about it as I knew what the answer would be 😉

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other

Joe’s selflessness, this quality is the reason I fell in love with him.

Karensa’a loving and caring nature, she cant help but help and the goodness she has inside shines in everything she does.

Share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Everything, his entire personality is fun, silly and quirky. From singing at all hours of the day to doing his hair like a cockatoo, anything to make others laugh.

I think most of our relationship is built on quirks. She likes to have everything organised and a certain way. Needs to eat with her fork and have her pillow positioned a certain way.

What is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Spending the day with all the people we love & the food of course

What would your advice be to upcoming brides?

Enjoy every moment of the day, it goes so quickly.

What’s something that you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Nothing really, after working in events I knew most of the things that were required along with the possible dramas and problems that may occur. What I didn’t expect is the overwhelming generosity that our family and friends gave to us.

Did you have a particular décor or theme?

Choosing boomerang farm meant we didn’t need a theme or particular décor, Nature spoke for itself at that location.

The beauty of boomerang farm speaks for itself, however before finding this location the most important thing was to have the ceremony & reception in the same area as we had a lot of family and friends travelling interstate & internationally.
